In order to create the Q & A with Ed Parker section of the Kenpo Journal, I collected every martial arts magazine and newspaper article I could get my hands on, that had articles by and about Mr. Parker. As a result I was able to create the EP Magazine Poster featuring 18 magazines covers that Mr. Parker was featured on.
I created the Memory Poster one day when I was thinking about Mr. Parker and all he gave us. I say one day, but it actually took weeks of work to do the final design. Although it's a beautiful poster, it's also simple and to the point: In Memory of Ed Parker, President and Founder of the International Kenpo Karate Association.
This print features two of Gil Hibben's original Ed Parker Fighting Knives. I bought these knives from Gil in 1982, when Gil and I were both living in Anchorage, Alaska. They're a very rare matching set of the Mark II & Mark III. Featured with the knives is the original Kenpo Ring that was hand crafted by Huk Planas. Inside the ring you can still read the inscription "HUK"
This print features two historic Kenpo knives by Gil Hibben. First is No. 1 A/P (artist proof), the most beautifully wicked knife in Kenpo, and second is the production model Kenpo knife produced by United Cutlery. The first Kenpo crest is what came in the box of the production knives and the second crest is the one that came in the box of the Prototype No. 1 of 1500 . . .
In this print, Gil Hibben's No. 1 A/P is accompanied with some memorabilia for out of the Kenpo past. Of special interest is the black and yellow Kenpo Crest. This was given to me by Mr. Parker and a patch he had designed to wear in the Pink Panther movies. He wanted to wear a crest, but didn't think our large crest would be appropriate, so he had this smaller one designed.

The knife featured in this print is "1996 Production Run 1 of 1500". This is the prototype of the production model Kenpo knife produced by United Cutlery, under license from Gil Hibben. It also has a stamp on the blade "Prototype 0000/1500". The production model itself is becoming increasingly rare. This knife is the most unique of all the production knives
