Scott Montoya personifies the warrior spirit. Much more than that, he is a battle-tested teacher of warriors. He began his training in Kenpo nearly 28 years ago with Mr. Paul Dye.
He was promoted to black belt in front of Mr. Parker and is currently a sixth degree black belt who has taught on several continents and competed as a heavy-weight fighter.
Mr. Montoya also received a black belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program at the FBI Academy in 2003 and became the Senior Martial Arts Instructor Trainer of the 2nd battalion, 23rd Marines, developing and implementing their course curriculum which included weapons retention, edged weapon use, hand gun retention, and Will to Survive training.
A combat veteran, Mr. Montoya trained over 850 Marines in 42 courses in the United States, Japan, Kuwait, and Iraq where he taught new Iraqi police officers during the violent transition.
Mr. Montoya has 21 years civilian law enforcement experience, handling and transporting high risk, maximum-security inmates for over a decade. He was a member of a select Critical Incident Response Team and deployed dynamic control measures to ensure safety of inmates and staff. He is a POST certified Arrest Control Techniques Instructor and Field Training officer.
He was a featured subject in the Military Channel documentaries, “Citizen Soldiers” and “Warriors: In Their Own Words.” He is the only Marine Scout Sniper in history to receive the Navy Cross, the nation's second highest award for bravery in combat. He was invited to the White House and acknowledged by President George Bush.
